Aging in correlation functions

چکیده

We review the most striking experimental results on aging in a variety of disordered systems, which reveal similar features but also important differences. We argue that a generic model that reproduce many of these features is that of pinned defects in a disordered environment, hoping between different metastable states. The fact that energy barriers grow with the size of the reconforming regions immediately leads to a strong hierarchy of time scales. In particular, long wavelength glassy, aging modes and short wavelength equilibrated modes coexist in the system and offer a simple mechanism to explain the rejuvenation/memory effect, which does not rely on 'chaos' with temperature. These properties can be discussed within simplified models (such as the Sinai model) where the dynamics of the whole pinned object is reduced to that of its center of mass in a disordered potential. While the experiments in random ferromagnet-like systems can be satisfactorily accounted for, the correct picture for the aging dynamics of spin-glasses is still missing. Following recent ideas of Houdayer and Martin, we propose the idea that the ordered phase a spin-glass contains a large number of pinned, zero tension walls. Finally, we briefly discuss the status of the mean-field theories of aging.

Objectives: Cognitive deficits and language disorders such as difficulty in recalling certain words are common among the elderly people. Verbal fluency as an index of word finding is one of the first cognitive functions that decline due to aging.-Considering the lack of norms of verbal fluency in normal elderly Persian-speakers, the purpose of this research was to determine verbal fluency perfo...

Correlation of Active Aging and Hypertension Self-Care Behaviors in The Elderly with Hypertension

Introduction: Attention to self-care behaviors is important in the management and control of chronic diseases such as hypertension. The aim of this study was to determine the correlation between active aging and hypertensive self-care behaviors in the elderly with hypertension. Methods: The present study is descriptive-correlation. The statistical population included all the elderly with hyper...

Aging correlation functions for blinking nanocrystals, and other on-off stochastic processes.

Following recent experiments on power law blinking behavior of single nanocrystals, we calculate two-time intensity correlation functions I(t)I(t+t') for these systems. We use a simple two state (on and off) stochastic model to describe the dynamics. We classify possible behaviors of the correlation function and show that aging, e.g., dependence of the correlation function on age of process t, ...

Non-Poisson dichotomous noise: higher-order correlation functions and aging.

We study a two-state symmetric noise, with a given waiting time distribution psi (tau) , and focus our attention on the connection between the four-time and two-time correlation functions. The transition of psi (tau) from the exponential to the nonexponential condition yields the breakdown of the usual factorization condition of high-order correlation functions, as well as the birth of aging ef...

Aging and nonergodicity beyond the Khinchin theorem.

The Khinchin theorem provides the condition that a stationary process is ergodic, in terms of the behavior of the corresponding correlation function. Many physical systems are governed by nonstationary processes in which correlation functions exhibit aging. We classify the ergodic behavior of such systems and suggest a possible generalization of Khinchin's theorem. Our work also quantifies devi...
